Chapbook: “a small paperback booklet, typically containing poems or fiction.”
We love our contributors. In an effort to continue supporting and being in community with our contributors after we’ve sold through copies of The Thalweg, we created the Smolt Library: a place where past contributors can publish more of their work. Small books, featuring one author, artist, or small collaborations from previous contributors.
In rivers, a smolt is a young salmon or trout after the parr stage, when it becomes silvery and migrates to the sea for the first time.
At its core, each issue of The Thalweg is a representation of a creative community thinking about landscape and livelihood, and we aim to publish more than one piece from each contributor. With chapbooks published through Smolt, we’re eager to dive deeper into the various textures a single contributor creates through their work. The Smolt Library is intended to be a deepening of our Thalweg community.
All profits from chapbooks go directly to the author.
**For those of you who joined our CSA membership, a surprise chapbook from a previous contributor may be mailed to you separately, as soon it it’s ready.
